Online Retirement Services App

The US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Retirement Services (RS) manages retirement benefits for federal retirees and their families, including 2.7 million current annuitants and survivors. We conducted six months of human-centered design research to help OPM understand the wants and needs of Federal government employees as they access their retirement benefits through OPM’s Online Retirement Application portal. We synthesized a library of research artifacts into a set of recommendations, including an overall product road map, to create an accessible and comfortable user experience for future users of Federal retirement services.

Legacy Assessment and Human-Centered Design Report

The Indian Health Service is responsible for providing healthcare and public health services to over 2.56 million American Indian and Alaska Natives (AI/AN). Using human-centered design and design thinking approaches to drive research and assessment activities, we surfaced the needs and goals of AI/AN healthcare facilities’ health information technology (HIT) systems. We developed three viable modernization routes that keep patients and HIT user groups at the center of the IHS’s future digital transformation strategy.
